The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has initiated disciplinary action against 18 employees for allegedly engaging in non-Hindu religious practices while working at the temple. The TTD Board, led by Chairman B.R. Naidu, has directed these employees to either transfer to other government departments or opt for voluntary retirement. This move aims to maintain the religious integrity and sanctity of the temple.

The decision follows the TTD Board’s resolution on November 18, 2024, and is in accordance with the provisions of the Endowments Act (Act 1060, 1989). The employees identified were allegedly practicing or participating in non-Hindu religious activities, which could hurt the sentiments of devotees and compromise the sanctity of the institution.

Among the 18 employees, seven are working in various TTD-run medical institutions as principals, professors, and lecturers, while four are in TTD educational institutions, and the remaining are in other departments. The board has resolved to either transfer such employees to other government departments or facilitate their exit through the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to maintain the religious integrity of the TTD.

This action underscores the TTD’s commitment to preserving the spiritual sanctity of its temples and religious activities. The board emphasized that all employees must adhere to Hindu traditions and customs to ensure the temple remains a symbol of Hindu faith and sanctity.
