Padma Awards 2025: Celebrating India’s Best and Brightest

On the eve of Republic Day, the Indian government has proudly announced the recipients of the prestigious Padma Awards for 2025. These awards celebrate individuals who have made exceptional contributions across various fields, reflecting the country’s progress and rich cultural heritage. This year, a total of 139 awards have been presented, including 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri.

Honoring Extraordinary Contributions

The Padma Vibhushan, India’s highest civilian honor, has been awarded to distinguished figures such as former Chief Justice of India, Justice (Retd.) Jagdish Singh Khehar, for his exemplary service in public affairs, and renowned artist Kumudini Rajnikant Lakhia. Posthumous awards in this category honor luminaries like M. T. Vasudevan Nair in Literature and Education, and Sharda Sinha in Arts.

In the Padma Bhushan category, notable individuals such as A. Surya Prakash for Literature and Education-Journalism, and Pankaj Patel for Trade and Industry have been recognized. Additionally, sports personalities like P. R. Sreejesh have been acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to their fields.

The Padma Shri awards celebrate a diverse group of achievers, including Arijit Singh in Arts, and Ajay V. Bhatt in Science and Engineering. This year’s list also honors 23 women and 10 individuals from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI.
