Toyota has taken a significant step in the electric vehicle market with the debut of the Urban Cruiser BEV at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. This compact electric SUV is designed to cater to the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions.
The Urban Cruiser BEV offers two battery options, providing flexibility for different driving needs. The first option is a 49 kWh battery that delivers 142 horsepower and 189 Nm of torque. The second, larger 61 kWh battery, offers enhanced performance with 172 horsepower in the front-wheel-drive model and up to 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque in the all-wheel-drive variant.
One of the highlights of the Urban Cruiser BEV is its impressive range, which is expected to exceed 550 kilometers on a single charge. This makes it a suitable choice for both city commuting and longer journeys. The vehicle’s interior is equipped with modern features, including dual digital displays, wireless phone charging, and a fixed glass roof, ensuring a comfortable and high-tech driving experience.
Safety remains a top priority for Toyota, and the Urban Cruiser BEV is equipped with multiple airbags, advanced driver assistance systems like lane keep assist and cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and electronic stability control.
Production of the Urban Cruiser BEV is set to commence later this year at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, with an official launch expected in 2025. This new addition to Toyota’s lineup demonstrates the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry.
