RJ Balaji Steps Aside: Mookuthi Amman 2 Aims for ₹100 Crore Global Stardom Under Sundar C’s Direction

RJ Balaji, renowned actor and filmmaker, has clarified why he will not be directing the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film Mookuthi Amman. Despite the overwhelming success of the prequel, which starred Nayanthara in a prominent role, Balaji has opted to step aside from the directorial responsibilities for Mookuthi Amman 2

In a recent statement, RJ Balaji explained that while the makers had a concrete vision for the sequel, he felt his creative inputs did not align with the project’s direction. According to him, the filmmakers had already conceived a strong storyline for the sequel, but Balaji admitted he lacked a structured plan to helm the film. Recognizing this gap, he suggested acclaimed director Sundar C as the ideal choice to take the franchise forward.

The upcoming sequel is expected to be a major production with a whopping ₹100 crore budget. With plans to cater to a broader audience, the project aims to become a “pan-world” film, blending regional essence with global appeal. Sundar C, known for delivering commercial hits, is poised to elevate the film’s scale and vision.

Mookuthi Amman 2 marks a significant move in Tamil cinema, signaling the potential for South Indian films to resonate with an international audience. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates on the cast and storyline, making this one of the most talked-about projects in recent times. With Sundar C at the helm and Nayanthara potentially reprising her role, expectations are sky-high for this ambitious sequel.
